 April 

Kyle’s Ride (Wednesday 5:30 @ Kyle's Bikes): Join us at 1840 Southwest White Birch Circle for this ride. There are two to three groups depending on the number of riders.

 April 2 — President’s Ride: The president’s ride will be a 25 mile round trip ride to the Slater Casey’s on the High Trestle Trail. There will be an option of riding to the High Trestle Trail bridge. Estimated miles can range up to 50 miles. *Ride leader — Jim Coady.

 April 9 — Reising Sun Café Ride to Polk City: The distances is estimated at 20 miles with an option for more. *Ride leader 1—Joe Corso, Ride leader 2—Larry Grubisich.

 April 16 —Mayor’s Ride for Trails in DSM or Rider’s Choice: The distance from the official start of the ride is 20 or 30 miles depending on your route choice. To ride to the start of the ride, meet LCC at 9:00 am at the usual spot, and this could add approximately 15 more miles. *Ride leader 1—TBD from Ankeny.

 April 23 —County Line Ride: The distances is estimated at 25 miles with an option for more. *Ride leader 1 — Todd Gean, Ride leader 2—Larry Grubisich.

 April 30 —High Trestle Grand Celebration Day: Due to the nature of this event, for those who want to start together we can meet at LSC. *Ride leader—Deb Olesen.

 May 

Ride Leaders are responsible for setting the pace for the group and making sure their folks get there safely. Ride Leader 1 may go longer distances or at a faster pace. If enough people join us we may be able to add another group. Let us know what you think!

Taco Tuesday’s (Tuesday): Many riders meet at Yankee Clipper for tacos after the ride. Enjoy!

 May 7 Taste of July Ride: Follow the route through Slater, Alleman, Elkhart and Bondurant. Estimated length is 50 miles. *Ride leaders—Randy & Pam Kroh.

 May 14 Farmer’s Market Ride: The Farmer’s Market Ride will also continue to Cumming if interested. Estimated length is 50 miles. *Ride leader —Vance Phillips.

 May 21 Tailwind Century or rider’s choice: There is limited space on this ride to the first 24 paid riders. Contact Cindy DuBois to see if a spot is still available at geo4cin@mchsi. *Ride leader—Cindy DuBois for the Century Ride.

 May 23 Ice Cream Ride: The club will treat for ice cream!

 May 28 School’s out for Summer: Estimated length is 50 miles. *Ride leader—Kathleen Coady.

 

 

 June 

 June 4 - Baxter Ride:  Approximately 70 miles. Kathleen Coady is ride leader. Limited trail due to repairs. Trail openings will be verified before the ride. Also, talk to Del Konopka if you would like to ride along and cheer on runners for the Dam to Dam race. This is an early bird event, as you must be downtown by 5:30 AM – how better to enjoy these won-derful summer mornings!! Breakfast and social time at the farmers market will follow!

 June 11 - Big Bik’n Weekend: BRAMCO, TOMRV, Tour The Raccoon…..for those that want to stay near Ankeny, it will be rider’s choice. Meet at LSC as normal at 9AM! If you can take time to enjoy these larger, organized events. You will not regret it!

 June 18 - Mystery Ride:  Hmmmmm: where shall we go??? Contact Deb Olesen for details. The 4th Annual Bikin’ Bon-du is also this weekend – great charity ride, approximately 45 miles. Check the BikeIowa website for details.

 June 21  - The Longest Day Ride: 6:00pm at LSC 60 miles, Headlight/taillight required. Last 20 miles on the trail *Ride leader—Cindy DuBois.

 June 25 - MS "Cruise the Cornfields": Join us as we ride 150 miles over two days to support MS research. Great train-ing ride for July, and for an awesome cause!! Route is Ankeny to Marshalltown, fully supported rest stops in Elkhart, Cambridge, Maxwell, State Center, etc. Contact Tim Pratt or Deb Olesen for details on this ride. Otherwise, contact Deb Olesen if there are LCC ride routes you would like to take from LSC. Open for ideas!!

 

 July

 July 4   There are 2 options:

  • Option 1: 40 on the 4th – Ride leader is Jim Lennie – 8:30 Start  Ride to Slater for the parade. 
  • Option 2: Approximately 60 miles - Meet at the Lake Side Center at 9:00 and we will make up the route.

 July 9 – Ledges Ride or Rider’s Choice – We are working on a ride to the Ledges with lunch included (paid for by LCC).  If this doesn't work out, we will do a riders choice ride and plan another route for the day.

 July 16 – Is Iowa flat? Ride – We will tour the Chichaqua bottoms/Elkhart/Bondurant area, catching hills along the way to prepare for the upcoming RAGBRAI ride.

 July 23 and July 30 – RAGBRAI or Rider’s Choice – Have fun on RAGBRAI!

 

 August

 August 6 Ride to Colfax – Eat at Poppey’s – Tim Pratt is ride leader – This is not a club paid lunch, so please bring cash. Total ride 40-50 miles. RSVP to Tim, TPRATT2590@YAHOO.COM

 August 13  – Elkhart Fun Ride – Food and drink at Deb Olesen’s – We’ll see what the club will pay for!

 August 20  – Mullet’s/Farmer’s Market Ride – Need a ride leader!!

 August 27  – Pie Ride – Route TBD – Richard Phillips will be ride leader.

 

 September

 September 3 - Mitchellville/Runnells Ride. Approx. 45 miles.

 September 4 - Night Ride to HTT Bridge. 6:00pm from LSC. Ride to Madrid for Dinner then on to the Bridge.

 September 5 Rider's Choice.

 September 10 - ISU/Iowa Ride.  Wear your ISU or Iowa jerseys, or school of choice!  Any direction but north due to traffic heading to Ames or stay on trail.  Possible ride to the bar to watch the game!
 

 September 17 - Polk City/Big Creek Ride or Rider's Choice.

 September 18 - Wine Ride. The ride will start from either Carlisle or the Winery at 1:00 pm (approx) and ride the Carlisle trail and return to the Winery @ 3:00 pm.  Please bring snacks to share. (more information to come)

 September 24 - Center Grove Orchard Ride to Cambridge.
